Two Years of Northwest Adventures

Yes, time really does fly. Today is the second anniversary of Pacific Northwest Seasons.

I’ve been trying to reassess what I’m doing with this blog and how to get more noticed.

So I decide to go drink tea.

After dinner I head over to Zen Dog Studio Teahouse, which, lucky me, is just a few minutes from my north Seattle home. This close to the autumnal equinox, it’s a dark, drippy evening as I hop in my car.

A few blocks west, a wall of fog is rolling in off Puget Sound, softening the edges of everything. It’s also unusually warm. I’m reminded of a dark, rainy night in the tropics. Is this a harbinger of climate change?

Regardless, it’s beautiful. The big round red Chinese lanterns strung around Zen Dog seem to float in the mist. As usual, the tea and company are wonderful. But I don’t get any revelations.

So what would draw you back here more often? More recipes? More posts about kayaking, hiking, skiing, tea….? More time in your day? There are so many wonderful blogs!

For now I’ll keep on blogging about what fancies me because I do know this:
I do this blog because I enjoy it. And it’s made me appreciate the region I live in even more.

I’d love to hear your comments below. Enjoy the film clip from a sunny day in July at Carkeek Park!

I'd come back for more photos of slugs!

I come back anyway so I'm not sure I have much to say that would be of use. I do enjoy reading about your discoveries in Seattle and nearby communities - mostly because we don't do much traveling these days.

Thanks for the effort you put into this wonderful site, Jill.

I love to read this blog as it shows parts of the Northwest that not everyone will get to or discover on their own. I love to travel but I always love coming home most of all. I occasionally mail the link out to friends who would enjoy it too, maybe just encouraging readers to do so would help.

Hey Barry, Thanks for the feedback! I was happy to find a good banana slug to snap because they seem to be crowded out by the nonnative black slugs around Seattle.

Biggest Sis, thanks for sharing the link with friends! Can't wait for your blog to go live again.

Love the banana slug. It has taken me a long time to appreciate slugs, and I do prefer them out of doors.

I love your blog because it focuses on local and near local sights. I find that I don't know as much about our own area and considering how long I've been here, that's a bit embarrassing. I appreciate you doing all the scouting work so I can make better decisions. I like that you promote local business. I definitely appreciate that you provide informative links.

I think it's admirable that you get away as much as you do.

I'm completely open to any travel you're willing to attempt. Even the detour to the Big Island was perfect because I went there in June. But I also loved the story about the goats in your own neighborhood.

Certainly enjoy your blogs, particularly when one week there is a slug and next week there is a recipe for black bean/corn salad. Maybe a slug could be diced and added to the salad. Or maybe not...

Hi Jill. I just discovered your blog. Congrats on keeping it up for 2 years. I have subscribed and look forward to reading your posts.

I am into hiking and natural history stuff, so that's what I would be most excited to read about.

Cheers!
